Mission Statement
In a word: Frustration. We’ve been plugging away, writing for years, with not much joy. A few bits and pieces here and there, but certainly nowhere near what we feel we could have achieved given a different set of circumstances. We understand that this frustration does not just extend to us, but to a lot of people we have never met as well. Fuck it, we live in what is considered to be one of the greatest cities in Europe, yet it seems the opportunities for writers in Newcastle are limited at best. Why exactly? I’m not too sure… Our friends in Scotland enjoy a healthy underground writing scene, and it’s been that way since Irvine Welsh proved that you can find diamonds in the rough. Certainly the closer to London you get the more opportunities you have, everyone wanting to be affiliated in some way with mock bohemian pretentiousness. It seems that writers in this area are victims of a geographic conspiracy that will remain forever unanswered. We are not aiming high with this project. We just want to provide an opportunity for writers in the area to get published, and network amongst ourselves. This is how we intend to do it: We will use this website and its affiliates as a forum for writers and a place where they can display their work. Eventually we will be open to submissions and we will use those that we feel fit in with the ethos of what we want to achieve. After that - we're not too sure.
